Symptoms:
How to change an ASYNC C Card to an ASYNC D Card DESCRIPTION: This document outlines the process of converting an OLT from ASYSC System Controllers to ASYSD System Controllers. Note: This procedure assumes that the OLT has ASYSC System Controllers in both slots SYS-A and SYS-B and that the System Controller in SYS-A is the Active System Controller. Note: This procedure is designed for OLT R7.3.0.1 software. Note: Please follow proper ESD protection when working with the OLT hardware.

Connect a console cable to the Active System Controller and connect a second console cable to the Standby System Controller. Open a terminal session for each console cable and log the data to a file. The settings for the serial ports are as follows: Baud Rate: 9600 Data: 8 Bit Parity: None Stop: 1 Flow Control: None 2. In the OLT CLI, type the following command to enable autonomous messages: AXS> set chassis autonomous on 3. Create an OLT Database backup using AXSVision. Open the AXSVision Software Manager application. Create and run an OLT Backup Task. Make sure that the “Delete backup on FLASH upon completion” is NOT checked. See Figures 1, 2, 3 below. Insert an ASYSD System Controller into slot SYS-B. After approximately three minutes, the following message should be displayed on the OLT CLI: System Controller Cards Hardware Mismatch6. After approximately five minutes, the following message should be displayed: Initial SYS Replication CompleteAfter the above message is displayed, remove the ASYSC System Controller from slot SYS-A. 7. Insert an ASYSD System Controller into slot SYS-A. Monitor the OLT CLI and watch for the following message to appear: Initial SYS Replication CompleteOnce the above message is displayed, both ASYSD System Controllers are operating in fully redundant mode. 8. In the OLT CLI, type the following command to have the ASYSD in slot SYS-A become the Active System Controller: AXS>set eqptsw manual to sys-a If any issues are encountered during the above procedure, please contact Motorola Customer Support at 1-800-MOT-WIRE.
